Why Volunteer?

In our culture today where competition for material gains and getting ahead is the norm of society, someone can always wonder what motivates people to volunteer. However, in reality there is so much one can gain from a volunteering experience:

  1. When you volunteer you make a difference in the lives of the people you serve especially the children affected and infected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

  2. Volunteers bring hope and happiness into the lives of the orphaned children and people in communities they serve.

  3. Volunteers contribute immensely to the success and sustainability of the projects and programs operated by the organization.

  4. Volunteering gives a sense of immense satisfaction and joy in sharing their gifts and talents with t hose in need.

  5. Our volunteers become mentors and role models to the children; they especially become big brothers/sisters to orphaned children who were denied the joy of having biological brothers and sisters.

  6. Volunteer gain valuable experiences by living and working with the local people and the multi-cultural environment broadens their perspective on various issues.

  7. There are also opportunities to gain new skills and new ways of doing things. You also get to learn new languages and make wonderful friends.

  8. Volunteering also poses a great number of challenges; living in a foreign culture can be challenging. The customs and systems of beliefs of the people you encounter can surely be a test of your humility and beliefs. However, such experiences provide an opportunity for self-evaluation and growth.
